In a unique initiative by the trade body, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)’s Gujarat chapter and Blind People’s Association (BPA), a ‘Job Fair’ for the differently-abled will be organised in Ahmedabad for providing job opportunity in big corporates. The fair, to be held on Friday, June 20 at the BPA in Ahmedabad will see corporate groups like Tata Consultancy Services, Future Group, Aegis Ltd, Arvind Ltd, Tata Motors and Apollo Hospitals among the 20 leading business entities making offers to the differently-abled people here. CII has also launched a job portal www.ciispecialability.in specifically for the differently-abled which will be a single point portal for employers and differently-abled potential employees. As per Census in 2001, nearly 2.13 per cent of the country’s population in the country were disabled. A report on Disability by the World Bank estimates disabled population to be ranging between 40 and 80 million.
